URBAN FRONT MEXICO TEAM CONTINUES COLLABORATION WITH IPDP

Members of the Urban Front Mexico team concluded a productive week of work in Mexico City. One of the highlights was a meeting with Dr. Patricia Ramírez Kuri, the new General Director of the Institute for Democratic and Prospective Planning (IPDP), the agency responsible for developing the city’s Territorial Planning Program and General Development Plan, with a strong emphasis on citizen participation.
It was a pleasure for Urban Front to confirm the IPDP’s interest in continuing the collaboration that began in 2022, when—at the request of the then Head of Government and current President, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum—we conducted a study to help mitigate the rising cost of housing in Mexico City.
Other meetings included public officials and civil servants committed to advancing the newly launched Programa de Vivienda para el Bienestar, a presidential initiative aimed at improving housing conditions for low-income populations in Mexico. These conversations reaffirmed the importance of inter-institutional coordination and innovative approaches to expanding access to adequate, safe, and affordable housing nationwide.

Miembros del equipo de Urban Front México concluyeron una semana de trabajo constructivo en la Ciudad de México. Uno de los momentos más destacados fue el encuentro con la Dra. Patricia Ramírez Kuri, nueva directora general del Instituto de Planeación Democrática y Prospectiva (IPDP), organismo responsable del desarrollo del Programa de Ordenamiento Territorial y del Plan General de Desarrollo de la Ciudad de México, con un enfoque en la participación ciudadana. Para Urban Front fue un placer confirmar que el IPDP tiene interés en dar continuidad a la colaboración iniciada en 2022, cuando, por encargo de la entonces jefa de gobierno y actual presidenta, Dra. Claudia Sheinbaum, desarrollamos un estudio para mitigar el aumento del costo de la vivienda en la Ciudad de México.
Otros encuentros incluyeron a funcionarios y servidores públicos comprometidos con el avance del recién inaugurado Programa de Vivienda para el Bienestar, una iniciativa impulsada por la presidenta para mejorar las condiciones de vivienda de las poblaciones de bajos ingresos en México.
